Naini Papers partners with PrimeFiber Global Paper Solutions to develop indigenous ‘Packaging Grade Speciality Papers’

In a strategic collaboration aimed at strengthening India’s packaging industry, Naini Papers has joined hands with PrimeFiber Global Paper Solutions to develop high-quality ‘Packaging Grade Speciality Papers’, offering an indigenous alternative to select imported grades.

The partnership is set to systematically address key packaging segments by working closely with converters, packaging companies, and brand owners to develop specialty paper solutions customized to evolving market needs. This initiative aligns with the growing push to replace single-use plastics and reduce reliance on imported paper grades.

Naini Papers operates one of the most technologically advanced hardwood pulp mills in India and houses Valmet’s cutting-edge speciality paper machine (PM3) designed to produce premium fiber-based packaging grades. Over the last few years, its older machines have also undergone significant upgrades by Voith, Valmet, and Bellmer, ensuring consistency, efficiency, and top-quality output.

“Our vision is to develop high-performance, India-made specialty papers that meet – and even exceed – global standards,” said Zaheer Abbas, Founder & CEO of PrimeFiber Global Paper Solutions. “By leveraging Naini Papers’ world-class manufacturing infrastructure and our application expertise, we will co-create sustainable, cost-effective solutions for the packaging industry. This is about making India self-reliant in specialty grades while offering brands materials they can trust.”

The collaboration is led by Pawan Agarwal, Chairman and Managing Director of Naini Group, who also serves as President of the Indian Paper Manufacturers Association (IPMA). Under his guidance, Naini Papers has been at the forefront of sustainability, innovation, and industry advocacy.
Commenting on the industry’s trajectory, Agarwal stated, “The Indian paper industry is gaining significant momentum as it is increasingly recognized as an environmentally responsible alternative to single-use plastics, particularly in the flexible packaging segment.”
