Modern Karton starts up new paper machine in Zonguldak

Modern Karton has successfully produced the first reel of paper at its Zonguldak mill in northern Turkey, the company announced on LinkedIn.

The newly installed PM 6 has a production capacity of 600,000 tpy of recycled containerboard, according to information given earlier. At the same time, Modern Karton’s subsidiary in the UK, Eren Paper, is pressing ahead with its large-scale project in Shotton, UK.

The former UPM site is being rebuilt and converted from graphic to packaging paper production. The new paper machine planned there will be even larger than in Zonguldak, designed to produce up to 750,000 tpy of recycled containerboard. Ramp-up is scheduled for the first half of 2026.
