French tissue and hygiene paper manufacturer MP Hygiène has adopted BWT’s ECO-MX technology to improve process water treatment, reduce operating costs and support more sustainable paper production.
Water treatment plays an important role in paper manufacturing, helping control unwanted microorganisms and maintain production efficiency. Traditional treatment methods can involve chemical handling, transportation and recurring supply costs.
To address these challenges, BWT implemented its ECO-MX technology at MP Hygiène. The system uses salt electrolysis to produce a disinfectant solution on-site, helping the manufacturer manage water quality while reducing dependence on externally supplied treatment chemicals.
According to BWT, the implementation helped MP Hygiène reduce its water treatment costs by 50% and decrease supply volumes by approximately two-thirds. On-site production also reduces the need to transport and handle certain chemical products.
The project highlights the potential of innovative water treatment technologies to improve operational efficiency, reduce costs and support more sustainable manufacturing practices in the pulp and paper industry.
As paper manufacturers increasingly focus on resource efficiency and environmental performance, solutions such as ECO-MX could offer opportunities to optimize water management and reduce the operational challenges associated with conventional chemical treatment.
