Paper Desk : Could you introduce Crystal Paper Industries to our readers?

Shekhar Gour : Crystal Paper Industries, a leading manufacturer of Water based Barrier Coated/PE cupstock raw materials in South India. We specialize in producing high-quality cupstock materials like Water based Barrier Coated/PE Reels, Cupstock Fans, Bottoms, and Boards that are ideal for a wide range of food and beverage applications.

PD : What are your vision & mission in paper industry?

SG : To be the first in India and in the world to excel in the world of Sustainable Eco

friendly paper for Modern Packaging solutions. We want our coating to be used for a diverse range of products that is used to pack the smallest to the largest products used in day-to-day lives like food wrapping paper etc.

PD : What are all the paper products you deal with?

SG : We deal with the below :

1. Manila Board
2. MG Poster
3. MG Kraft
4. Duples and FBB board

All these products can be given both coated and uncoated materials

PD : What are all other special purpose papers you produce?

PD : What are all your unique features of your cup stock papers?

SG :

1. We use only Food grade inks for our cupstock design
2. We make sure we pass all the requirements in terms international standards even for our local customers
3. Our unique designs are the trendsetters in both local and international markets
4. We are the first ones to successfully have 48hr long durability barrier coated cups
5. We have a super sonic in house cup making machine to test all our products first before hitting the markets
6. Our quality is the sett standard in the market.

PD : Do you manufacture oil & grease resistance papers?

SG : Yes, we do infact we are among the very few companies to achieve the right COBB, Moisture and thickness value. We have also made our OGR PFC free and in completely biodegradable chemical.

We will be showcasing our product in the upcoming Paperex exhibition and we are very proud in what we have achieved as our OGR paper is best compared to all the available options.

PD : The papers produced by crystal have food grade papers?

SG : Yes we have PFC and Biodegradable food grade papers & Barrier Coated Paper.

PD : Do you use only Indian Papers or International Papers also for your products?

SG : We use all our Paper and Paper board from all A grade Indian mill and also as per the customer requirements.

PD : Where is your manufacturing unit located?

SG : We have a 60,000SFT factory in Hyderabad with all the latest machinery and types of equipment for both PE and Barrier coating. We can manufacture 700 MT of paper such as MG poster for OGR and food wrapping paper, Cupstock and paper for pouches etc, for each of the coating machinery.

PD : How important is QC for a paper converting company and how do you assure the quality of your products you sell?

SG : We have invested in a fully equipped state-of-the-art quality testing laboratory with a team whose primary and sole objective is to make sure have pinpoint accuracy in clients’ needs as well as the quality required in a particular product. We have all the testing facility that is required to test each and every parameter of paper quality.

PD : How do you differentiate your products with your competitors in terms of quality, applications, special purposes, etc..?

SG :

1. We have all the necessary certifications as we use only european chemicals for coating and printing.
2. All of our products are food grade and food certified products
3. Even for PE we use the best quality and internationally accepted PE.

PD : How do you see the Indian market for your products?

SG : It is a bit challenging for the market to adapt to newer products in terms of pricing but we are confident going forward barrier coating will be the most sustainable and eco friendly products.

PD : Being a paper trading company for three decades, what is your suggestion to the Industry to make the paper sustainable?

SG : Sustainable paper for Modern Paper Packaging requires us to be ecologically friendly and aware and for this we must act fast and adapt fast only then we can be ahead in the next generation of Paper packaging.

PD : How do you see the growth of Indian paper industry in future?

SG : We see tremendous growth in the sector specially from the year 2024 as India’s consumption is rapidly growing paper is the only way to maintain the consumption eco friendly and sustainable.

PD : How does your company contribute to the society?

SG : We are one of the only companies that have invested heavily in Water based barrier coating which is the only way to make packaging eco friendly and sustainable. we are proud to be the pioneers in this technology that will help India reach its climate goals.

PD : Any special achievements, you company had in recent years?

SG : We are one among TOP 10 PAPER & FOREST PRODUCTS STARTUPS in the year 2022.
