Papeles y Conversiones de México partners with Valmet to optimize machine efficiency with successful press section rebuild

Valmet and Papeles y Conversiones de México (PCM) celebrated the successful start-up of the PM 1 press section rebuild in Guadalupe, Mexico. This project marks a significant achievement in Valmet’s ongoing commitment to supporting PCM’s strategic goals.

The target of the project has been to increase capacity by upgrading the existing PM 1 recycled linerboard and medium machine to maximize dryness out of the press while optimizing machine efficiency and product quality.

The press section rebuild includes a complete Valmet IntelliPress TriNip with a shoe press, a press pulper, Valmet Black Belt, a felt conditioning package, tail threading system, mechanical drives, and site services. These comprehensive upgrades enable the 2,950 mm-wide (wire) PM 1 machine to produce recycled liner and containerboard at a much higher speed of 1000 m/min (max. operating speed) and a basis weight range of 115-250 g/m².

“At start-up, the paper went through the press without any problems, and that is a testament to our ability to collaborate effectively across areas of expertise and regions to deliver exceptional results for the customer.” Marcin Lembryk, Expert Project Manager, Small and Medium Size Machinery

Customer feedback has been very positive, with special appreciation for the professionalism and dedication shown by Valmet engineers. PCM also expressed high satisfaction with the quality and reliability of Valmet’s deliveries. “With this press and other modifications such as the headbox and others from Valmet, we will achieve the production goal.”  Agustin Anaya Garza, CEO/Owner, PCM
