Pokémon has entered one of its most unusual merchandise collaborations yet, with officially licensed Pokémon-themed toilet paper and tissue rolls now being sold in South Korea.
The quirky product line was developed through a partnership between the Pokémon brand and Portuguese paper company Renova, turning everyday bathroom essentials into collectible fan merchandise.
The collection features designs inspired by 79 different Pokémon characters printed directly onto toilet paper and tissues. Popular fan favorites such as Pikachu, Charizard, Lapras, Lucario, and Ditto are included in the lineup, alongside many others from the long-running franchise.
Adding to the excitement, buyers reportedly do not know which Pokémon design they will receive before opening the package. The surprise-element marketing has drawn comparisons to opening Pokémon trading card booster packs, where randomness and collectability are part of the fun. This approach has encouraged fans and collectors to purchase multiple packs in hopes of finding their favorite characters.
The bizarre yet creative product quickly attracted attention across gaming and entertainment communities online. Several gaming websites described the release as one of the strangest officially licensed Nintendo-related products ever launched. While Nintendo is known for carefully protecting the image and quality of its brands, the company’s approval of Pokémon toilet paper has surprised many fans around the world.
Online reactions have been mixed. Some fans see the product as funny, unique, and highly collectible, while others find the concept strange because beloved Pokémon characters are literally printed on toilet paper. A number of collectors have reportedly decided to keep the rolls sealed and unused, treating them more like display items than household products.
The collaboration has also become a commercial success in South Korea. Reports indicate that the product received strong support on the crowdfunding platform Wadiz, attracting thousands of supporters and generating significant funding shortly after launch. The strong response highlights the continued global popularity of Pokémon merchandise, especially limited-edition or unusual collectibles.
At present, the Pokémon-themed toilet paper and tissue products are officially available only in South Korea. However, international demand is already growing, and resellers are expected to export the products to fans and collectors in other countries in the coming months.
