Velvet Care Expands Tissue Production and Logistics Capacity with Major Investments in Poland
Velvet Care, one of Poland’s leading manufacturers of paper hygiene products, has significantly strengthened its production and logistics capabilities with the commissioning of a fully automated high-bay warehouse and the successful launch of its new MP9 tissue paper machine at its Klucze manufacturing facility.
The newly inaugurated high-bay warehouse offers a storage capacity of 42,612 pallet spaces, making it one of the largest automated warehouses in Poland dedicated to paper products. Equipped with 10 automated stacker cranes capable of operating at speeds of up to 160 metres per minute, the facility enables continuous 24/7 receiving and dispatch operations. The warehouse also features an advanced pallet transport system and an inerting fire protection system that reduces oxygen levels to prevent fire ignition and spread.
Alongside the logistics expansion, Velvet Care has commissioned its fourth tissue machine, the MP9, increasing the Klucze plant’s tissue production capacity by more than 40%. Manufactured by Valmet of Sweden, the 5.6-metre-wide machine incorporates advanced shoe press technology, delivering high productivity while minimizing the consumption of gas, water, and electricity.
The large-scale project involved the use of 1,320 tonnes of steel and over 15,000 cubic metres of concrete during construction. With the addition of MP9, Velvet Care’s total tissue production capacity has reached approximately 210,000 tonnes per year, supporting the manufacture of toilet paper, paper towels, facial tissues, and all-purpose wipes.
According to Paweł Bajorek, President of the Management Board at Velvet Care, the investments strengthen the company’s competitiveness, improve supply chain resilience, and enhance its readiness for future expansion in both domestic and international markets. He emphasized that the Klucze facility remains the technological hub of the company’s long-term growth strategy.
Wanda Ciesielczuk, Vice President of the Management Board and Regional Director of Production and Technology, noted that the MP9 machine provides greater control over raw material quality by enabling certified tissue production within the company’s own operations. She added that the investment improves production efficiency, streamlines logistics, and enhances supply chain stability while supporting the company’s sustainability objectives.
Implemented in collaboration with the Krakow Technology Park and a consortium of financial institutions, the MP9 project meets high environmental and quality standards. As Velvet Care continues to export products from Klucze to 26 international markets, these latest investments reinforce the company’s strategy to expand its European presence while improving operational efficiency and production capacity.
