Union Paper Mills to Champion Circular Manufacturing and Industry Resilience at ProPaper 2026

Union Paper Mills (UPM), part of M.A.H.Y. Khoory Group, will participate as Principal Sponsor and Strategic Partner at ProPaper 2026, bringing its perspective on circular manufacturing, resource efficiency and the long- term development of the region’s paper and packaging industry.

Established in the UAE, UPM has built significant expertise in transforming recovered paper into recycled containerboard for the packaging industry. UPM forms part of M.A.H.Y. Khoory Group’s broader industrial platform, which includes paper and packaging manufacturing, waste management and environmental solutions, creating opportunities to connect resource recovery with local manufacturing.

“ProPaper provides an important platform to discuss the future of paper and packaging in our region. The long-term opportunity goes beyond growth in packaging demand; it is about building a stronger circular manufacturing ecosystem – recovering more material locally, converting it into value-added products here in the UAE, and strengthening the resilience and competitiveness of our regional supply chains. This is where we believe UPM and the wider M.A.H.Y. Khoory Group can make a meaningful contribution,” said AbdelRhman Obaid, Group CEO, M.A.H.Y. Khoory Group.

Organised by Verifair, ProPaper 2026 will take place from October 20 to 22. The regional B2B event spans paper, corrugation, paperboard, tissue and the converting industry, bringing together international and regional participants from across the industry value chain. A two-day conference will also feature industry leaders discussing the outlook and key issues shaping the regional paper sector.

Demand for paper-based packaging continues to be supported by e-commerce growth, evolving consumer expectations and the transition towards more sustainable packaging solutions. According to Research and Markets, the Middle East and Africa paper packaging market is estimated at USD 26.83 billion in 2026 and projected to reach USD 35.13 billion by 2031, representing a CAGR of 5.54% between 2026 and 2031.

As Principal Sponsor and Strategic Partner, UPM and M.A.H.Y. Khoory Group will play an active role in ProPaper 2026’s industry dialogue, bringing perspectives on manufacturing resilience, resource security, circular industrial value creation and the future competitiveness of the regional paper and packaging sector.”
