In a significant initiative aimed at strengthening the talent pipeline for India’s growing pulp and paper sector, Parason Machinery (India) Pvt. Ltd., the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Roorkee, and Pakka Skills have signed a tripartite Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to establish an industry-oriented skill development program focused on sustainable fibre-based manufacturing.
The MoU, signed on 24 July 2026, brings together academia, industry and skill development under a common platform to equip rural youth with the technical knowledge and practical experience required for careers in the pulp, paper and fibre moulding industries.
The collaboration is designed to bridge the gap between classroom education and industrial requirements by offering hands-on technical training, exposure to modern manufacturing practices, apprenticeship opportunities and structured career pathways. The initiative also places strong emphasis on employability, workplace readiness and developing industry-relevant competencies that meet the evolving needs of the manufacturing sector.
A key outcome of the partnership is the proposed establishment of a Learning Excellence Hub at the Pakka Skills campus in Ayodhya. The centre will serve as a dedicated training facility where participants will gain practical exposure to advanced technologies and manufacturing processes. While IIT Roorkee will provide academic collaboration in mutually agreed areas, subject to institutional approvals, Parason Machinery will contribute its extensive industry expertise, technical guidance, machinery exposure and practical training support.
The MoU signing ceremony was attended by senior representatives from all three organisations, including Mr. Madhure Desarda, Director – Global Business & Product Development, and Mr. Mahipal Saini, Manager – Sales & Marketing, Parason Machinery; Prof. K.K. Pant, Director, IIT Roorkee; Prof. Amit Agarwal, Associate Dean – Corporate Interaction; Prof. Vibhore K. Rastogi, Program Coordinator, Department of Paper & Packaging Technology; Prof. Kirtiraj K. Gaikwad, Head, Department of Paper & Packaging Technology; Prof. Dharm Dutt, Faculty, Department of Paper & Packaging Technology, along with other faculty members. Representing Pakka Skills were Ms. Sarita Upadhyay, CEO, Pakka Foundation, and Dr. Ashwini Dixit, Head, Pakka Skills.
As India’s pulp and paper industry continues to expand through investments in sustainable manufacturing, recycling and value-added fibre products, the availability of a skilled workforce has become increasingly important.
